ISLAMABAD - Pakistan women team go down fighting by 18 runs in the Asian Cricket Council Women’s Twenty20 Asia Cup final against India played at Guanggong International Cricket Stadium China.Pakistan required 82 runs for victory and were well on way to achieve the target when they placed at 31 for 1 but lost 9 wickets for just 32 runs in the final over. The loss exposed weaknesses of Pakistani team instead of learning lesson from the early loss the team management, and the coach miserably failed to make a game plan that disappointed the millions of fans, who had prayed day and night and especially when the rain was almost knocking out Pakistan from the semi-finals against Bangladesh.Pakistani girls played a lot of international matches prior to this mega event but the non-professional coach failed in removing the weaknesses that let Pakistan down.
Pakistan skipper Sana Mir led from the front once again and bowled her heart out in the final but team spoiled all her good efforts and fail to chase down an easy target of 82 runs.Had the players saved their wickets for the end, Pakistan could have easily achieved the target. Indian girls managed to hold on to their nerve and nail down Pakistan by 18 runs.Pakistan team management completely flopped as far as planning is concerned, it was girl’s individual performances which help the team to reach the final. Bismah Maroof proved her credentials and was named the player of the tournament. Time is ripe for Pakistan Cricket Board to hire some professional coaches for the women team having experience of coaching at this level. The girls are consistently performing, but it is lack of proper coaching letting down the team. If PCB really wants to make headway as far as women cricket is concerned then they should take practical steps and involve professionals, who had clear vision and proper coaching experience, otherwise it’s a lost cause.PCB Chairman emphasises on the skilled and professional coaches, so without wasting any further time, he must appoint a highly qualified coach for women cricketers to get the desired results.Labels: cricket-news
