LAHORE: Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated on Saturday across the country with religious fervour and renewed pledge to work for national solidarity, integrity and prosperity of the country.
Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated in the commemoration of Prophet Ibrahim's (AS) readiness to sacrifice his son Prophet Ismail (AS) for Allah.
Hundreds of thousands of believers will go to mosques and Eidgahs to offer Eid prayers at over 600 places in different parts of the provincial metropolis.
The biggest Eid congregation in the city will be held at the historic Badshahi mosque where the Punjab Governor will offer prayer.
Other big Eid congregations will be held at Data Darbar, Masjid Shuhada, Masjid Wazir Khan, Minhajul Quran and Bagh-e-Jinnah, Lawrence Road.
Eid prayers will also be offered at Karbala Gamey Shah and Islampura Mosque.
Special prayers will be offered for the liberation of all occupied Muslim territories, including Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine and durable peace in the region.
Ulema and Khateebs from different schools of thought will deliver special sermons and lectures to highlight the significance of the day and call upon Muslims to follow the teachings of Islam.
All centers of Pakistan Television Corporation, Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation and private channels have chalked out special programmers for the auspicious occasion. Newspapers will also take out special editions to highlight the distinctive features of the sacred day.
Meanwhile, IG Prisons Punjab Mian Farooq Nazeer told APP that special arrangements had been made for Eid prayers at all jails across the province. The DIGs and superintendents will offer prayers with inmates in their respective prisons.
Lahore Zoo Director Shafqat told APP that the management had made special arrangements for a variety of programmes to attract visitors during Eid holidays.
Meanwhile, Capital City Police Officer Muhammad Aslam Tareen said tha the city police had tightened security to avoid any untoward incident on the occasion.
VC PU Prof Dr.Mujahid Karman will host a special luncheon on Eid day in honour of newly enrolled Baloch and Pakhtun students at New Campus. It is first time that in PU's 130-year history that all Baloch and special students are being offered complete free education upto PhD, besides free hostel along with monthly scholarships to express solidarity with the people of Balochistan and encourage special children in the mainstream of life.
